Jason Kanzler, better known as DeadAsDisco, spins every Wednesday night at the Atomic Cowboy in The Grove. Fortunately for his small group of followers, this is just one of the four shows her performs on a weekly basis. He sat down with Eleven to talk the Atomic Cowboy, St. Louis, and his taste in music.

So many bands, so little time – it was the best type of endurance test! Here are Eleven’s Lolla Day 3 highlights:
Yeasayer – 4:00 PM – Budweiser Stage
Playing to a crowd eager to finish the festival weekend strong, Yeasayer got the audience moving with feet-moving hits “Ambling Alp” and “O.N.E” from February’s acclaimed release, Odd Blood. (more…)

Local artist Matthew Strauss bought a building in the Grove with the intention of making it into his personal studio. Little did he know, it would turn into the non-for-profit alternative art gallery, White Flag Projects. Eleven sat down with him to discuss The Grove, the story behind the gallery’s name, and the art and music scenes in St. Louis.

Eleven HQ (2603 Cherokee St., St. Louis, MO 63118). We figured that it would be a good idea to let you know at some point. Doors at 10, band at around 11, and we’ll be pumping jams before and after. Also, a keg from The Stable will make an appearance. All that for a $3 (minimum) donation to the STLSSS! And what band is playing, you may ask? So many loose lips sink ships.

Have you heard about the St. Louis Secret Sound Society? Cherokee’s newest music collective is throwing a secret show this Friday, August 13th – but the artist and location are, well, secret – for now. But rest assured, the event will be awesome, so stay tuned for the location and the time – you’re not going to want to miss it.

Saturday’s final consensus: I’d definitely gotten too much sleep. Seven hours is a lifetime at Lollapalooza—much less at any music festival. With heightened resolve, I tumble out of bed couch at 8:30am, a mere four hours after being let in from the hallway I had settled on calling a resting point for the evening. The ringing in my ears, bleariness in my eyes, and general emptiness in my head: everything felt just right for a successful final festival day. (more…)
