On The Road (Day 0): Nashville and Memphis, TN

Time for a trip back in music history, no flux capacitor needed. Nashville and Memphis still hold much of the underpinnings of blues and rock ‘n’ roll. Just at St. Louis’ weather is finally becoming bearable, it’s time to hightail it to Tennessee for a musical history lesson. And, Memphis BBQ wouldn’t hurt, either.

See our playlist for the ride after the jump.

Wayne Coyne Likes His Cover

We braved hours of line-waiting to make sure Wayne got a copy of our November issue. And boy, did he like it (see above)! Also, it’s worth noting that Wayne had a reasonable, 1-on-1 conversation with everyone who waited in line, which amounted to a four hour plus meet and greet. And, he enjoyed meeting everyone!

1. Tour De Grove and ArtCrank

-Where: the Grove (between Tower Grove Ave. and S. Sarah St. on Manchester Ave.)
-When: Saturday, All Day/Night

-Why: Beyond the excitement of watching cyclists compete for some serious cash, Tour De Grove is a definitive neighborhood event that incorporates art, music, and brings the St. Louis community together to enjoy the last fleeting moments of spring. Activities begin on Thursday, May 13 (the opening of the ArtCrank poster show at Atomic Cowboy, for instance), but the main event – the NRC women’s and men’s races – starts at 3:40 PM on Saturday. However, with so many bars and venues right alongside the race course, you better believe the party will continue long after the cyclists cross the finish line.
