Former hardcore frontman Wesley Eisold’s drowny Cure-esque vocals atop Cold Cave’s jackhammer synthpop transformed the Luminary Center for the Arts into a 1980s underground club. A single blue light captured the intensity of Eisold’s theatrical breakdown as the rest of the crowd shouted along with introverts’ anthems.

Playing accordion since she was five, UK native Anja McCloskey charmed the audience at the Lemp Arts Center with her sultry lullabies. Local female folk singer CJ Martin and multi-instrumentalist Josh Meyer started things off before McCloskey’s folky set. Collinsville’s Fragile Farm closed the set late that night. (more…)

Saturday, January 9, Designer Drugs showed 2720 Cherokee what a 2011 party should be like. Despite the cold weather, the New York duo kept their hypnotizing performance of synthy, electro-wave remixes going until 1 AM.
Eleven met up with the lively crowd at 2720.

Making a triumphant return after a busy six months of touring, Le Castle Vania had the floors bumping and the taps flowing at SOL Lounge in the Central West End Saturday November 20. SOL also featured local favorites Andy Mon$y and Jaz E, as well as an upstairs set by the Spanish duo Dj Armandkroul and Taj Mahal.
