All Time Low, after rocking two previous tours this year, is on the road yet again – but this time headlining the first ever Glamour Kills tour. Glamour Kills, an 80s-inspired clothing company founded by Mark Capicotto, made its debut onto the alternative rock music scene in 2005. Originally featuring the “when pigs fly” logo, these vibrant yet edgy t-shirts, hoodies and denim are more than just clothes—they are reflective of the increasingly popular LA pop-punk scene. Currently, over thirty bands promote Glamour Kills clothing, and four of those bands comprise this fall tour. Needless to say, the line for merchandise after Saturday’s show was as long as the line to get in.The Pageant is one of only three Midwestern venues that will be featured on the Glamour Kills tour. Not surprisingly, many out of state fans drove in for the event, resulting in a sold-out and somewhat overexcited crowd on the night of Saturday, November 21st. For those who have never been to an All Time Low show, you might expect a teenybopper crowd of fourteen year old girls who think Alex Gasakarth is dreamy and, at best, only know a few singles from the latest album. But refreshingly enough, there were a lot of die-hard fans that had been listening to All Time Low since their garage tour days.
We The Kings, Hey Monday and The Friday Night Boys are All Time Low’s supporting bands on the road. Having shared the stage before, there was a palpable chemistry between the bands- even during each of their respective sets. This concert was about all of the bands, not just the main act; each set was about the same length and the crowd’s adoring attention seemed equally divided amongst the four. First was The Friday Night Boys who put on an extremely interactive and energetic show, especially for an opening band. Most of the songs they played were from Off the Deep End, their new full-length album released earlier this year. Hey Monday followed, but their performance was disappointingly routine and almost identical to those from their two previous tours this year – it would have been nice to hear a cover or at least a new single. Still, lead singer Cassadee Pope is charismatic and makes her presence known with powerful vocals. We the Kings had a good-humored stage presence, and played two new songs off of their album Smile Kid which will be released this December. Finally, All Time Low took their performance to another level, with a set that included an impressive light show and a 3-song encore. The All Time Low set included a good balance of songs from all of their albums. Ultimately, everyone in the crowd enjoyed the performance and hundreds of people stayed after to mingle with the band members.
