What’s Going On: 10/27 – 10/31

It’s Halloween weekend. OH SHIT! /facepalm! I haven’t even started my dang Big Bad Wolf costume yet! Dag nabbit! Well, for those of you better prepared than moi, there is a slew of Halloween-lovin’ and Halloween-huh? things to do this weekend.

TONIGHT, Thursday, October 27

Got a date? Good for you! There’s no better way to break the ice than to scare the shit out of him or her. Take that terribly unassuming vixen to The Lemp Brewery from 7:30 PM to 10 PM tonight and get ssskkkuuurrrreeeeeeddddd! This Haunted House costs $20 to enter, but the look on your date’s face when some (human not pussy) cat that looks like a leper jumps out from the shadows will be priceless.

Not too jazzed on the idea of sobbing like a little bitch when the Wolfman lunges at you during the scariest 20 minutes of your life at Lemp? It’s okay. We at Eleven don’t judge. We offer alternatives for your pansy ass. For $10 you can check out three great bands at The Firebird tonight. Ume, False Moves and Peach are in town. Doors at 8PM. Show at 8:45PM.

Need something comfy? Why not peep So Many Dynamos who begin their residency at the ultra cozy FOAM tonight. Show starts at 8PM and ends 12AM. Suggested donation is $5. Whoop!

Friday, October 28

Eleanor Friedberger of Fiery Furnaces will be in full-moon effect at The Luminary Center for the Arts.  Not-so Halloween themed, but we all need a break from the fake blood every once in a while. Show starts at 8 and you’ll spend $10 – $12 to get in.

Saturday, October 29

Early riser?  Perfect!  Go meditate the mid-morning away at The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts.  At 10:30 AM bring your over-active subconscious and engage in some Theravada meditation techniques courtesy of The Pulitzer’s on going Meditation Series.

Once you’re done clearing your mind and becoming “one” with your inner “self”, go to Atomic Cowboy in your best Halloween costume and get that “self” drrrrrrrrunk (RESPONSIBLY) to the beats of The Loud Outfit and Cor(e)yography.  Atomic is giving the patron with the best costume $50.  So Get Serious!

Apparently, the CWE has the biggest party of the year. All day there will be Halloween festivities flooding the streets and after 8PM is when the big boys and girls get to come out and play. STL’s largest Costume contest will be in full effect! Last year they has 25,000 entries. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaang.

Sunday, October 30

It’s Gondoween!

Sloup’s on at Fort Gondo!  The 21st edition of Sloup will occur between the ghoulish hours of 6 and 8 on Halloween night.  Vote for your favorite artist’s proposal and slurp down some yummy liquid dish for $10.  Number one vote getters go home with the sum of all the voter’s money in their pockets to go towards their artists or communicative projects.  It’s like charity…but cooler and with soup.

While you’re checking out what’s new in the arts community of Cherokee, look up Apop Records who are conjoining with Binge and Purge. This Saturday and Sunday they are having Grand Opening worth checking out. Promising free booze courtesy of Schlafly’s and free music from 2:00PM to 9:00PM both days. The opening also includes a storewide sale on all music goods and ridiculously cool vintage finds plus, I hear there’s supposed to be s’more weird shit.

Monday, October 31 — HALLOWEEN!

//1//

Rats&People? Sounds like a plan to me! Unless these rats reside in sewers and have the girth of a Pembroke Welsh Corgi…and these people are New Yorkers. Have no fear! For neither is the case! Rats&People are an orchestral emsemble that compose and perform scores to films of the Silent Era. Mmmhrmm! This time it’s Nosferatu! The show starts at 9PM and is located at The Heavy Anchor. And leave the minors at home and bring Lincoln with ya, ‘cuz it’s $5 and 21+.

So, go watch Thriller and get in the Halloween spirit!

Boogie down, people. And have a Happy and Safe Halloween!
