Blonde Redhead brought their brand of moody pop/rock to The Pageant on Monday night, wowing the audience with layers of sound and dreamy incandescent bulbs. German electronic musician and producer Pantha du Prince opened the night, bathed in blue light and swimming in manipulated sounds.

I guess Passion Pit’s constant touring has caused mild memory loss in lead singer Michael Angelakos. Less than a year ago, Passion Pit played a show down the street at WashU – but that didn’t stop Angelakos from thanking the crowd for such a good turnout (a sold-out show, in fact) for the band’s first time in the Lou. However, his small blunder was far overshadowed by great sets by all three bands on the night’s bill. (more…)

With one part psychedelic dance party, a dash of various samples, and a hefty helping of live drumming, the ingredients making up Pretty Lights’ set mixed perfectly to transform the Pageant into a surreal disco. Backlit by three massive LED panels and an arsenal of rotating stage lights, Derek Vincent Smith and his touring drummer (who played a kit along with Smith during the entire set) blazed through roughly two hours of layered beats, ranging from hip-hop to dubstep to house.
